Position: Class 1 Highway Driver
Type: Full Time
We are seeking experienced Class 1 Drivers with van and flat deck experience to do highway work within Western Canada (mainly Alberta).
Key Accountabilities: Operate tractor-trailer (van and flat deck) to transport goods and materials within Western Canada.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Class 1 Driver’s License required with clean abstract
- Must be familiar with manual transmission
- Must be willing to work away from home for periods of time (usually no more than three nights at a time)
- Must have minimum of one year Class 1 driving experience hauling flat deck freight
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Class 1 driver’s license
- Must have thorough knowledge and experience with van and flat deck load securement legislated requirements
- Ability to complete thorough pre and post trip inspections
- Able to receive and relay information to dispatch
- Ability to read/react to road conditions
- Manual dexterity
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform routine vehicle maintenance
- Demonstrated organizational skills: strong oral and written communication abilities, task prioritization, use of timelines and time management techniques
- Professional/mature demeanour under stressful situations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic
- Must be able to work with little supervision; must be self-directed
Working Conditions:
- Will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Will be required to be away from home for extended periods of time
- Must be willing to stay in a bunk truck unit while working away from home
