Pilot Truck Driver - Bonnyville, AB
Escort over-dimensional loads with traffic control, radio communication, and field support.
B&R Eckel’s is seeking a Pilot Truck Driver to support over-dimensional load movement from the Bonnyville location.
This role supports safe, reliable transportation service with a team that values practical training, strong communication, and a workplace culture built around employee safety and customer service.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Work away from home for extended periods of time.
- Assist with operator tasks on job sites.
- Ensure the safe movement of over-dimensional loads.
- Ensure proper permission from road authorities before removing or adjusting bridge railing, traffic control devices, or roadway structures.
- Maintain adequate distance in front of or behind the unit carrying the load to warn approaching vehicles.
- Maintain constant two-way radio communication with the over-dimensional load driver and other pilot drivers.
- Make the travelling public aware of over-dimensional loads and direct or control traffic when necessary.
Qualifications
- Valid Class 5 licence; cannot be a GDL licence.
- Clean driver’s abstract.
- High school diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in yard operations.
- Willingness to work away from home, including night shifts and overnight shifts.
- Pilot Truck Certification course.
