HSE Safety Supervisor – Logistics / Oilfield Rig Moving – Bonnyville, AB

B&R Eckel’s Transport is seeking an HSE Safety Supervisor to support safe, compliant operations in Bonnyville, Alberta. This position works with drivers, dispatch, maintenance, and field teams to reduce risk and strengthen safety performance across logistics and oilfield work.
The role blends field and office responsibilities, including participation in an on-call rotation. It is a strong test case for this template because it carries multiple responsibility groups, preferred credentials, travel requirements, benefits, and application notes.
Position Overview
- Support safe and compliant work across trucking, oilfield logistics, and rig move environments.
- Work directly with drivers, dispatchers, maintenance teams, supervisors, and field operations.
- Help identify hazards, reduce incidents, and strengthen the company safety culture.
- Balance field support, office documentation, coaching, and on-call responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve the Health, Safety & Environmental Management System.
- Promote safety-first practices through meetings, toolbox talks, driver briefings, and supervisor coaching.
- Monitor workplace safety legislation, National Safety Code expectations, vehicle inspection requirements, and hours-of-service compliance.
- Support COR safety programs, client contractor systems, and safety prequalification requirements.
- Oversee driver safety programs covering defensive driving, fatigue management, telematics, GPS review, and vehicle inspection reporting.
- Conduct ride-alongs, field observations, yard audits, truck audits, and job-site safety inspections.
- Complete hazard assessments for rig move work and develop corrective action plans.
- Lead incident, near-miss, vehicle incident, and workplace injury investigations.
- Maintain safety statistics, incident logs, training records, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.
- Develop and deliver training, including orientations, driver safety, emergency response, and hazard identification.
Qualifications & Skills
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Health & Safety or a related field is preferred.
- Preferred certifications include CTSP, CRSP, COR Auditor, Standard First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, and CSO.
- Minimum Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract required; Class 1 is preferred.
- Five to ten years of HSE experience in heavy haul transportation, oilfield logistics, heavy trucking, or transportation is preferred.
- Experience with oilfield service companies is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of OHS, heavy haul transportation regulations, fleet safety, incident investigation, and safety management systems.
- Strong communication, leadership, coaching, mentoring, and influencing skills.
Working Conditions
- Office and field-based work with frequent travel.
- Extended hours may be required during incidents, audits, or operational events.
- Daily operations monitoring, job-site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits are part of the role.
- On-site coaching, mentorship, safety meetings, orientations, and safety stand-down support may be required.
- Ongoing documentation and follow-up with supervisors, dispatch, and management is expected.
