Position: Overnight Shift Dock Supervisor
Type: Full Time – 12AM to 9AM

The Overnight Shift Dock Supervisor, under the direction of the Lloydminster Freight Depot Manager, is primarily responsible for overseeing incoming and outgoing freight activities on the B&R Lloydminster freight dock to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.

The Overnight Shift Dock Supervisor will inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with loading and unloading specifications and supervise and coordinate the activities of night shift dock workers relating to all loading and unloading activities.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Oversee loading/unloading activities to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments
  • Inspect loading operations to ensure compliance with loading/unloading specifications
  • Supervise and coordinate the activities of dock workers relating to all shift activities
  • May operate forklift, pallet jack, or other equipment to load, unload freight
  • Inspect material handling equipment for defects and notify maintenance personnel for repair
  • Determine work procedures and workflow of dock staff
  • Inspect inbound freight for damages and notify appropriate staff of potential quality/damage issues
  • Ensure B&R dock area is organized and clean at all times and meets all compliance requirements
  • Ensure that all night shift dock staff employees are in compliance with all applicable health and safety regulations and other company-related policies and procedures
  • Conduct performance/monitoring activities in coordination with and direction from the Lloydminster Freight Depot Manager
  • Hold responsibility for site security, including ensuring only authorized personnel are present
  • Perform other duties, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role in a warehouse/dock environment
  • Forklift Certification/Forklift experience
  • Ability to manage staff
  • Ability to communicate performance issues to staff in timely manner
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Ability to handle pressure
  • Ability to adapt and formulate new plans as contingencies arise
  • Self-motivated, with leadership skills and a high energy outlook
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • High level of integrity and work ethic

Working Conditions: 

  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer/email program on phone
  • Overtime as required
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Work involves sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, lifting, walking
  • Working on /in dock setting with overhead doors continuously open/opening and closing

Salary Range:

  • $25.00 to $26.20 per hour
